Keith Allan Haring was born on May 4 1958, and died on February 16 1990 when he was 31 because of AIDS-related complications. Keith Haring was an openly gay man and an artist who included themes of sexuality, openness and inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ community, and activism for broadening the conversation about AIDS. He was gay even though he was born during a time where it was illegal. Keith used art to express himself in a funky, pop style. The artist supported himself and didn’t listen to those who didn’t like his style and his lifestyle choices. He was bold to be open about his sexuality during a difficult time for the LGBTQ+ community.
