Movie Review: Cinderella

By Moksh Batra, Grade 6

If you are looking for a modern, mature remake of a classic fairy tale, then the 2021 Cinderella movie is the one for you. Despite the not-so-great reviews, this is a must-watch for you and your family. Starring Camila Cabello, Nicholas Galitzine, Idina Menzel, James Corden, and Billy Porter, this is a Cinderella story viewed through the lens of 21st-century life. Fearless orphan Ella, or as her stepmother and stepsisters call her, Cinderella, is a poor girl whose parents are no more. She dreams of designing dresses, but it all falls apart when she meets a handsome prince. With the help of her Fabulous Godmother (or Fab G), she tries to end up with the prince, hassle-free. Filled with songs, drama, and comedy, this is a wonderful family musical. Some original songs are 'Rhythm Nation', 'Million to One', and 'Dream Girl'. However, some covers of classic pop songs of the 2000s and 2010s are also present; such as 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran, 'Material Girl' by Madonna, and 'Seven Nation Army' by The White Stripes, which is what makes this so relatable. I recommend the film for ages 10 and above. Do watch this!
